THE INCREASED USE of social media, particularly cellular phones, has led  to a variety of problems for relationships  in Barbados, says a family therapist.
And veteran psychologist Reverend  Dr Marcus Lashley contends that the jealousy and anger often created by these situations had led to some people choosing  to drastically reduce their presence  on social media in an attempt to save  their relationships.
Lashley revealed that he was seeing  a significant increase in cases of partners checking each other’s mobile phones.
“I am seeing this at least two, three times  a week coming up in sessions. That is a big thing and now, ironically, it is not only  the women who are checking, but the men are doing it too. That is a clear shift,” said Lashley of Synapse Psychological Services.
