Cruise rescue

A cruise on board the popular pleasure boat MC Buccaneer turned ugly last week Monday when a rope snapped and three men tumbled into the water.

One man was rescued when a friend immediately jumped in after him, while the other two were picked up by a cruising boat.

Hero Aquil Cumberbatch told the DAILY NATION yesterday that he instinctively jumped into the water to save Kemar Riley, whom he knew could not swim.

“I was on the boat partying with the men when I saw three men fall in and I heard people saying the rope snap. I knew one of the men couldn’t swim. I just jumped in. I had on my shoes, my clothes my phone, everything . . .”
