Weekend of water polo

Get ready for three days of water polo at the Aquatic Centre.
The Barbados Masters Waterpolo Tournament will get underway tomorrow and continue through Sunday as members of the local club take on visiting teams from the United States.
Barbados’ two teams for this tournament, the Sharks and the Dolphins, will be up against the Old Mission Bay Water Polo Club, from San Diego, and combined teams from Texas and Atlanta.
Not only will there be exciting games to watch, but club members will be available to provide information on joining the Barbados Waterpolo Club, the youth, junior and upcoming school programs as well as how you can learn more about the sport and the fitness benefits.
Water polo has been around for decades in Barbados and has been re-energised in more recent years through the senior and junior programs developed by the Barbados Waterpolo Club.
The inaugural Darren Eastmond Waterpolo Tournament held during Easter 2013 showcased the growing talent pool on the island, as teams from the United States and individuals from the United Kingdom who competed for the championship trophy. After a hard fought battle throughout the weekend, the Barbados “A” team emerged victorious.
Barbadians and visitors are encouraged to come out and catch the action which starts at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.
The Closing Ceremony will be held at the Cruising Club from 6 p.m. Sunday.
