RUNNING SINGLES will no longer be the way Government plays major innings in sports.
Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley says Government will now be doubling up by having partnerships and the pooling together of resources for the construction of infrastructural projects.
Lashley, who is also the Minister of Culture and Youth, made the point while delivering the feature address at the opening of a new pavilion at the Bayley’s Primary School in St Philip on Wednesday evening.
He said the building of the pavilion was the result of a successful collaborative effort between two statutory corporations, noting that while the National Sports Council (NSC) provided the material, the National Housing Corporation (NHC) provided the labour.
“This is tangible proof of what can be achieved when the public sector uses its resources assiduously. This combining of resources, both human and financial, is one of the pillars of the Government’s growth strategy, as we strive to achieve our developmental goals,” Lashley said. (EZS)
