Teacher action ‘appalling’

A GOVERNMENT MINISTER is slamming the plan of teachers to be away from classrooms tomorrow when thousands of children turn up for classes after the Christmas holiday.

Outspoken Minister of Commerce and International Business Donville Inniss told the DAILY NATION last night he was appalled that teachers would take such disruptive action at the start of the school term.

Saying he was speaking more as a parent, Inniss contended that members of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) had more options available to them to try to resolve their industrial problems other than withdrawing their labour.
