SHAQUILLE LAVINE is seeking to become the youngest man in two decades to win the coveted Mr Bridgetown bodybuilding contest at the Combermere School on Saturday.

Lavine, 19, last season’s Mr Teenager and the reigning national junior champion, is the heavy favourite to win the season opening event.

The last teen to win the Mr Bridgetown was Therold Babb, who was 18 when he captured the oldest running contest in the land in 1991.

Last year, Lavine had to settle for second spot in the Mr Bridgetown behind Dario Bryan, but indications are he should be the man to beat. Tyrone Mayers of Krackan’s Gym and Kirk Alleyne of Strike Force Gym are in the line-up but neither is expected to pose a serious challenge to Lavine. (MK)
