Police probing attempted robbery, shootings

A LONE MAN attempted to rob the Western Union at Hastings Mall this afternoon but failed.

Police are asking anyone who saw a man lurking in the area or fleeing around 12:30 p.m. to contact the nearest station.

No one was hurt during the incident and while the there was no discharge of the weapon, reports are that the staff was traumatised.

Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police David Welch said that police carried out a sweep of the nearby area as they searched for the culprit but were not successful.

Meanwhile, police are also looking for a suspect in a shooting at Gills Road, Greenfields, St Michael on Thursday night. A man in his 50s was shot in the calf and had to be taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police are also appealing for the public’s assistance in solving that matter.

The lawmen are also investigating a shooting in Bush Hall, St Michael on Thursday night. (AC)
