Worlds hopes high

BARBADOS can expect some finalists and potential medallists at the World Athletics Championships in China this month.

That’s the bold prediction of Noel Lynch, senior vice president of the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB), after announcing that six athletes will represent the country at the major track and field meet slated to run off from next week in Beijing.

They are sprinters Ramon Gittens and Levi Cadogan, sprint hurdlers Shane Brathwaite, Gregmar Swift and Kierre Beckles, along with multi-event athlete Akela Jones.
