Shakira shines

BIKINI FITNESS, with Shakira Doughlin shining bright, and men’s physique, led by a rejuvenated Ryan Haynes, provided the sparks for a low-key National Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday night.

Doughlin and Haynes were the unquestioned stars of the night, delivering their best ever performances to earn overall Barbados titles for the first time.

Bikini fitness and men’s physique saved a programme in which bodybuilding reached rock-bottom with just 13 men and two women on stage.

Doughlin, 26, a teacher and former volleyball player, won a riveting showdown with Melissa Burrowes and Vicky Ann Hope in the division for those in the 163 centimetres height class.
