GEORGETOWN – Out of favour West Indies batsman Leon Johnson hit an unbeaten 73 to give defending champions Guyana Jaguars a solid start yesterday against the Barbados Pride.

Captain Johnson has so far struck nine fours and two sixes off 199 balls to steer the Jaguars to 170 for two in 50 overs on a rain-affected opening day of the third round West Indies Professional Cricket League first-class match at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

He added 79 for the second wicket with opener Assad Fudadin, who made 42 and shared an unbroken third-wicket stand of 60 in 131 minutes with fellow left-hander Vishaul Singh, who was 30 not out off 59 balls when fading light ended play early.
