DEFENDING Division One netball champions C.O. Williams Rangers proved that lightning does not strike twice in the same place by pulling off a come-from-behind victory over Guardian General Pride of Villa on Monday night at the Netball Stadium.

Villa shocked the Rangers in the first round and seemed like title contenders after a follow-up win over Pine Hill Dairy St Barnabas.

However, a monster game from Barbados captain Rhe-Ann Niles in defence and supporting attack from Nikita Payne, who scored a game-high 29 goals from 33 attempts, led Rangers to a 43-41 victory.

With the versatile Latonia Blackman pointing the way with 27 (of 30) goals, Villa controlled the scoreboard until it mattered most. They managed quarter leads of 11-7, 22-17 and 32-30 before Rangers seized second lead of the game 37-36 after their previous sole advantage was at 1-0.
