AUBURN – Barbadian Rocco Bowen made history at Emerald Downs on Saturday when he rode a brace to become only the 16th rider to break 100 wins in a season at the scenic Pacific Northwest racing oval.

The 27-year-old scored with favourite Secret Echo in Race 2 over six furlongs and returned in Race 7 over 6-1/2 furlongs to win with 5-1 chance Awesome Indian, to reach triple figures for the first time in five seasons here.

With just five race days remaining in the five-month campaign, Bowen assured himself of his first Emerald Downs jockeys’ title. He has exactly 100 wins, 31 clear of two-time former champion Leslie Mawing, who was successful in 2011 and 2014. (CMC)
