St Thomas edge St James Central

HOME DRUMS truly beat first as St Thomas defied a heavy downpour and a spirited challenge from St James Central to earn a close 2-1 victory in the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils’ Football Classic at Bridgefield on Saturday night.

Both teams were lively from kick off and produced one of the most competitive displays seen so far in this year’s competition.

Technically, there was very little separating the teams as they tested each other’s resolve in every third of the field. At times you wondered who would crack first.

St Thomas, buoyed by their enthusiastic fan base, broke the ice in the 22nd minute when Nicholas Griffith slotted home the opening goal. (AT)
