WHILE THE SITUATION could have been much worse, Barbados has not come out unscathed from Tropical Storm Matthew.
The weather system caused flooding as well as downed trees and utility poles and, in the cases of Samantha Rawlins of Congo Road and Mardel Vaughan of Moncrieffe – both of St Philip – it literally raised the roof.
Rawlins said she was home with her two children and her aunt when she heard a loud whooshing noise.
“The next minute we heard the wind howling so when we went outside, thinking it was the tent attached to the house, it was the roof coming off,” she said. (CA)
