Springer Memorial stages successful chain link

HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS from Springer Memorial were joined by schools in the community in staging a chain link to mark Barbados’ 50th Anniversary of Independence.

Students from neighbouring Charles F. Broome Memorial, Parkinson Memorial, Erdiston Nursery, The Ann Hill School, Belmont Primary, The St Michael School, St Winfred’s School, Grantley Prescod and St Giles Primary and Nursery linked hands in the event which got underway after 9 a.m.

It was held under the theme Unity in de Community and encircled the Government Hill school, Government House, Pine Hill and Pine North-South Road.

Parents, guardians, old scholars and members of the business community joined the children.

The school made a trident and had a symbolic run, led by the athletes.

Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave completed the link just before 10 a.m. inside the school’s grounds. (Barbados Nation)
