NOT EVEN Combermere principal Vere Parris can say when students will return to the school that’s under investigation for a persistent environmental problem.
All he could say yesterday was that it should be “soon”, in response to questions from the DAILY NATION hours after meeting with his staff at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College as the school remained closed indefinitely because of gaseous smells.
“I cannot give you that at this point in time and we are not aware when that will be. Work and assessment are still ongoing by a team of people so I’m not in a position to say when, but I expect it will be soon, but I can’t say yet,” Parris said.
He said yesterday’s meeting was to bring staff up to date on what was taking place at the school and to find the best ways to meet the needs of the more than 1 100 students. (AC)
