HISTORY’S PAGE just got a new chapter.

For a moment last night, Barbados’ past and future crossed and class, race, politics, age and religion stood for a single cause in the unifying Reveal Of The 50th Anniversary Of Independence National Monument.

Despite being pushed back one day due to torrential rains that caused flooding, 10 000 Barbadians of all walks of life defied the threat of rain and descended on the historic Garrison Savannah, St Michael, where it all began 50 years ago under practically the same soggy conditions.

The unifying tone of the hour-long ceremony was set with a comprehensive prayer session by Hindu practitioner Pundit Thakor Pradash, Dr John Hunte from the Spiritual Baptist faith and Dr John Holder, Anglican Bishop of Barbados. (AC/AD)
