THERE WILL BE school for sixth and fifth form students of the Combermere School next week.
Classes for sixth form students will be held at the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, Pine Hill Road, St Michael, from Monday, while classes for fifth form students will be at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, Wildey, St Michael, from Tuesday.
Sixth and fifth form students should report for classes at 8:45 a.m.
The Combermere School, at Waterford, St Michael, was closed indefinitely on November 16 following complaints of ill-health from both teachers and students. The school has been plagued with environmental issues in recent times and this is the second occasion in which it has had to be closed.
Since then the Ministry of Education, the school’s management and the parent-teacher association have been working to resolve the issue.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation yesterday, in its latest announcement on developments relating to the school, promised parents and guardians that it was making every effort to find alternative accommodation for the remainder of the school.Â
In addition, the special task force identified to monitor and oversee the work at Combermere will continue to observe the environment at the school.
The Education Ministry has also promised to continue updating parents and guardians on any developments. (BGIS/ES)
