BARBADOS has the athletics talent to make an impact on the international arena despite its size, says Obadele Thompson.

“First, I truly believe that Barbados has several athletes who have the ability to make impacts globally in their disciplines,” said the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games 100 metres bronze medallist.

Thompson was speaking during his feature address on the topic, Sports: Positioning for Global Success, at the National Sports Council’s awards ceremony on Saturday night at the Frank Collymore Hall.

He admitted that for various reasons such as the country’s smaller population, Barbados may never be able to produce the number of globally significant athletes as Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago. (EZS)
