‘Lies and corruption’

IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE the Budget Reply, but Opposition Leader Mia Mottley last night turned Parliament into her own “Haggatt Hall moment”, accusing the administration of lies and corruption.

She ripped the Government over questionable deals, returning to highly controversial issues such as the Cahill Project, two Government Members of Parliament’s use of luxury vehicles owned by a private company, the millions of dollars in Government projects going to businessman Mark Maloney’s Preconco Ltd – including at the Bridgetown Port – and uncertainty over the status of the multi-million-dollar Sugar Point Cruise project.

Making it clear that the matter of corruption would be a key focus of her party, Mottley went as far as to warn members on her side that “corruption would not be tolerated from anyone”.

Making reference to the Deltro power purchase agreement planned for Waterford, St Michael, Mottley promised a forensic audit would be the first order of business for her administration. (GE)
