BARBADOS’ track and field darling Akela Jones won’t be jumping to any new heights at next month’s IAAF World Championships in London.

The multi-eventer, who competed in the pentathlon and high jump at last year’s Rio Olympics, has been sidelined with a troublesome knee injury and will be unable to contest any events at the August 4-13 championships.

This was confirmed by vice-president of the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB) Noel Lynch.

Jones did not compete at last month’s National Championships at the National Stadium after returning home from Kansas State University in the United States. (EZS)
