AFTER JUST ONE game in their debut senior volleyball season UWI Blackbirds have hinted at the domination which their other teams have achieved in other sports disciplines.

Boasting a very powerful line-up, the Blackbirds, who had proven invincible in the last Division 2 season, brushed aside Phoenix Security Services Carlton in straight sets on Monday night 25-14, 25-18, 25-21.

That was on the second night of action in the Goddard Enterprises Limited Senior Knockouts which continued at the Kensington Bond.

Led by the trio of Sharon Bovell and setter Afiya Taylor, who were top national players, along with St Lucia’s southpaw Dania Hamilton, the Blackbirds outplayed Carlton, who had stunned former queens Chargers the previous night. Ironically, Bovell, Taylor and Hamilton had previously suited up for Chargers. (KB)
