Canadians facing drug charges

Members of the Drug Squad have charged three Canadian visitors with a number of drug related offences which were allegedly committed at the Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday.   

Charged are, Jordan Alexander Pinelli, 26, Lamar Diamonte Newman, 19, and 18-year-old Illicia Jade Orr-Campbell. The trio were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis, trafficking of cannabis and importation of cannabis.

The trio arrived from Canada and a subsequent search of their luggage by Customs Officers, revealed that they had 41, 19, and 19, packages of cannabis respectively, concealed in their suitcases. The police were informed and they were arrested and charged for the offences.

Jordan Alexander Pinelli was in possession of 12.3 kilos of cannabis, whereas, Lamar Diamonte Newman was in possession of six kilos of cannabis, and Illicia Jade Orr-Campbell in possession of 6.2 kilos of cannabis.

They all appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch, in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court, today where they pleaded guilty to the offences.

Jordan Pinelli was fined $10 000 for possession of cannabis and $10 000 for importation of cannabis, CRD on possession with intent and RD on trafficking.

Lamar Newman was fined $5 000 for possession of cannabis and $10 000 for importation of cannabis, CRD on possession with intent and RD on trafficking.

Illicia Orr-Campbell was fined $5 000 for possession of cannabis and $10 000 for importation of cannabis, CRD on possession with intent and RD on trafficking. (PR)
