The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is seeking outside help to deal with the ongoing sewage issues along the South Coast.

However, manager of the wastewater division Patricia Inniss said this help would not be in personnel, but rather in equipment.

“We have the expertise here but not the technology. We are currently working on bringing that in,” she said.

This as the problems with the South Coast Sewerage system appear to be going from bad to worse.

Inniss was responding to the latest sewage overflow along Worthing and Hastings, Christ Church, last night. She said “another failure” at the sewage plant was at fault, which caused sewage water carrying toilet tissue to flow from the sewerage cover in front of Chicken Barn in Worthing as well as settle in front of Lanterns Mall in Hastings.

She said they were feverishly working on the fault to get the problem rectified as soon as possible. (CA)
