A string of local and international musicians came together at the St George Parish Church rectory for a good cause Saturday night.
The fundraiser, entitled Under the Stars, was in support of the St George Music Academy and held under the patronage of philanthropist Regine Sixt, Barbados’ Honorary Consul in Germany.
There were performances by renowned Piazzolla Trio comprising cellist Gjilberta Lucaj, pianist Lynelle James and violinist Anat Almani.
They were joined by local musicians, including classical singer Amanda Fields, violinist Wesley Morris and soprano Liesl Gaye Gajadhar.
Sixt, who runs the charity Drying Little Tears, donated the instruments for the academy, expected to cost about $250 000. This includes preparation of the physical space, acquisition of the instruments and equipment. (TG)
