Two years after four youngsters were charged in connection with the high-profile murder of a taxi driver outside Lucky Horseshoe in Warrens, St Michael, police have yet to produce a file for the court.
In addition, one of the accused has been waiting more than three months to be brought down on a bail application as a result of the recent uncertainty relating to the sitting of the high courts.
And attorney for that youngster, Queen’s Counsel Michael Lashley, is so incensed at the delays that not only will he be applying for bail, he will also ask that the matter be dismissed, if necessary.
“It is not right that the state can charge an accused man and he is up on remand for a capital charge of murder for two years. You cannot hold a man on remand on a capital charge for two, three, four, five years,” said Lashley. (HLE)
