Opposition Senator and trade unionist Caswell Franklyn has blasted Government’s “Ernie and BERT” policies, calling the measures “hurtful and punitive”.
Franklyn also said the controversial domestic debt exchange was “taking advantage of people who cannot defend themselves”.
The head of United Workers’ Union also urged Prime Minister Mia Mottley to cut ten ministers from her Cabinet instead of sending home 1 500 workers on the lower end of the economic ladder.
Speaking in the Senate during debate on the Debt Holder (Approval of Debt Restructuring) Bill, he warned Government that Barbadians would eventually “rebel” against the measures that had them on course to surpass the bad mad measures implemented by the former administration. (SC)
