The newly formed Public Service Vehicles Workers Association (PSVWA) is currently in a meeting at the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) headquarters, Dalkeith Road, St Michael.

This is the latest development following strike action by several operators from as early as 7 this morning.

An emergency meeting was called last night among owners, operators and the Transport Authority to head off today’s action, which coincided with the start of the Hilary school term.

Some frustrated drivers and conductors parked their vehicles at Eagle Hall, St Michael and gathered on the sidewalks.

It  is the second time in five days that operators staged action for a number of reasons, including uniforms, the fuel tax, absence of duty-free concessions on vehicles and the nature of violations for which they were charged. (TG)
