DO NOT OVERLOAD. And complete your routes. That is the warning from the Transport Authority to public service vehicle (PSV) operators, after complaints by PSVs of being reported by police for carrying excess passengers, and complaints from commuters about drivers not going the full routes.

The Road Traffic Act was amended last November to reflect changes to the definition of minibus and route taxi and their seating capacity. The maximum for minibuses was moved to 57 and for ZRs to 20, according to manufacturers’ specifications.

Acting director of the Transport Authority, Maria Boyce, cautioned PSV operators not to try and take undue advantage of the situation. (CA)
