Let’s melt their shells
NOW THAT THE DEBATE on the giant African snail is raging again, here is my few cents’ worth on how to be rid of them.
I would suggest that the authorities develop a spray or powder that would dissolve the shells of the snails. The snails need them to survive.
I also think it a good idea for our scientists to find a way to make these giant snails sterile – both male and female lay lots of eggs.
The money spent on developing such sterilization would bring much more benefit than that going to all the futile exercises right now.
But are we really serious about getting rid of these ubiquitous giant African snails?
