Bitter-sweet moment

Mara Thompson’s landslide by-election victory in St John was bittersweet.
“I am happy about the victory, but Dave [her husband, late Prime Minister David Thompson] not being here makes it difficult,” she said yesterday at Browne’s Beach on Bay Street, the day she swept to a record-breaking win at the polls.
Yesterday afternoon, the Thompson clan, (from left) Mara and daughters Osa-Marie, Oya, Misha, along with Mara’s father-in-law Charles Thompson, took in the Families First Errol Barrow Day celebrations.
