The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is to take an additional two million gallons of water a day from the island’s privately run water supplier to help meet local demand.
This increased flow of water from Ionics Freshwater Limited from four million gallons to a maximum six million gallons along with administrative changes to improve efficiency, were announced yesterday by Water Resources Minister Dr David Estwick.
The minister announced a new administrative line-up. Arnie Walters, a former senator who had been appointed executive chairman of the BWA is out, and back at the helm is Dr Atlee Brathwaite, whose title will be chairman.
In too are engineer Peterkin Broome who heads a technical sub-division, and attorney Mitchell Codrington, an industrial relations consultant and a human resources specialist. He will deal with internal issues and restructure the BWA’s customer relations department. (CA)
