Portland, Oregon – Barbadian Rocco Bowen won twice on the nine-race card at Portland Meadows on Monday, but remained in single digits for the season which started in mid-October.
Bowen partnered with 5-1 bet Tango Search to win Race 4 over 5-1/2 furlongs and returned two races later to snatch victory aboard 35-1 outsider Tribute to Sissy in a mile trip.
He lies seventh in the jockeys’ standings with seven wins from 69 starts, a long way off early leader Javier Matias on 24.
The winter season at the United States venue is scheduled to end on March 14.
Meanwhile, at Woodbine, his illustrious compatriot Patrick Husbands completed a successful weekend when he rode a double on Sunday’s ten-race card.
He won Race 2 with Revelare and Race 4 aboard Soda On the Side, to climb to 178 wins for the season which ends December 4.
Husbands, who lies second, still trails runaway leader Luis Contreras by 20 wins.
The 38-year-old six-time champion jockey kicked off his success in Race 2 over 1-1/16th miles, carrying the 2-1 bet Revelare to a strong win by 1-1/4 lengths.
Ferry Inn, ridden by Barbadian Juan Crawford, set the early pace with easy fractions through the half-mile as Husbands raced Revelare off the pace.
He closed the two-year-old colt strongly on the turn before launching a furious rally in the stretch to overhaul the leaders.
Husbands recorded his second win over the shorter distance of seven furlongs, guiding favourite Soda On the Side to a handsome win over the two-year-olds. (CMC)
