Letter could unite DLP

THAT LEAKED LETTER that could have split the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) might make it stronger instead.
This assessment was given yesterday by Reverend Dr David Durant, a Government-appointed Senator.
Durant described the letter, drafted by 11 Government parliamentarians seeking an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to discuss leadership, as  “a fiasco and misunderstanding”.
“I think it can be for the better; out of this can be an entirely stronger and more united force within the Democratic Labour Party going forward. It will rebound for the better,” Durant told the WEEKEND NATION. He said the DLP’s chances of winning the next general election, constitutionally due no later than March 2013, would not be affected.
