Women trained to take charge
YOUNG WOMEN from across the Caribbean have been empowered to transform the culture of exclusion which has systematically limited women’s equal and equitable participation in making decisions that affect their lives.
Through the Young Women’s Transformational Leadership Training Institute programme, facilitated by the Caribbean Institute For Women In Leadership and funded by United Nations Women, over a dozen women received training in Advancing Transformational Leadership For Gender Justice In The Caribbean.
The programme seeks to promote and increase the participation of young women in the Caribbean in various forms of leadership and decision-making through their socio-political advocacy work.
The key aims are strengthening capacities, advocacy and support systems for 21-to-30-year-old Caribbean women aspiring to or involved in leading the charge on gender issues throughout the region.
