MINISTER OF HEALTH DONVILLE INNISS and his wife Gail recently opened their Husbands Heights, St James home to entertain the Victorious Ladies of Cancer Support Services.
Inniss told Social Scene afterwards it was an opportune occasion to socialize with the cancer survivors and hear their concerns about the services provided for cancer patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
From all reports, he got an earful. They told him about the need for a better ambiance in the hospital’s radiotherapy department, lack of privacy, the length of time it took to get an appointment, and other concerns. But it was all expressed in a light-hearted, relaxed atmosphere poolside with food and drink, and Inniss promised to respond.
Hospital Director Dr Dexter James and QEH board member Shelly Weir were there to hear it, while enjoying the socializing.
