TWO-TIME CHAMPIONS TeleBarbados Carlton Juniors and Mix 96.9 FM Dover Juniors will contest the final of this year’s Desmond Haynes Under-16 Knockout Cricket Competition.
The final is slated for Whit Monday, May 20, at the Desmond Haynes Oval.
In the semi-finals on Wednesday, Carlton Juniors recorded a tense six-run win over Fusion Boutique Passage United at Passage Road and Dover Juniors crushed CounterPoint Wanderers by ten wickets at Dover.
At Passage Road, chasing a meagre 92, Passage United were dismissed for 85 in 28.1 overs.
Fast bowler and captain Shamar Springer collected the last three wickets and ended with three for 16. There were also three wickets each to Shomari Gibson and Donte Niles, for 17 and 20, respectively.
Earlier, Springer made a fighting 35 as Carlton Juniors were all out for just 91 in the 28th over. Off-spinner Hasani Newton claimed three for 27.
At Dover, Wanderers Juniors elected to bat but were bundled out for a paltry 49 in 16.2 overs.
Slow-medium bowler Shakeel Turney broke the heart of the batting, taking five for 19 from his seven overs. He was well supported by medium-pacer Jarion Hoyte with three for 23 from seven overs as well.
Dover Juniors raced to the target, scoring 50 without loss in 6.2 overs, to reach the final for the first time in the competition, now in its third year.
