Earthquake rattles parts of region

ST.JOHN’S, Antigua, June 9, CMC – Sections of the northeastern Caribbean were rocked by a 4.8-magnitude earthquake on Saturday evening.
The United States Geological Survey confirmed that the tremor was felt as far north as St Maarten, as far south as Guadeloupe and across St Eustatius and St Kitts and Nevis.
Its epicentre was about 30 kilometres southwest of Codrington, Barbuda, at a depth of 20 kilometres.
The quake occurred at around shortly before 8:00 pm local time.
The highest level of shaking was felt in St Eustatius, Antigua and St Kitts.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries in any of the territories.
