CONCERN that a “growing” Foreday Morning could overtake Grand Kadooment has led to changes in the early hour jam.
Calling Foreday Morning “the fastest growing event in Crop?Over”, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said last year’s 35 bands and 18 000 revellers had been surpassed with 46 registered bands and an expected 21 000 revellers this year.
“We are not restricting the event but measures and arrangements have been put in place so we are mindful that we are not creating another Grand Kadooment in Foreday Morning,” Lashley told a media briefing on Friday at his offices. Chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Cranston Browne and other NCF officials were present.
Some of the measures, the minister added, were to ensure that the two events survive and “not one overtaking the other”.
