Minister of International Business Donville Inniss has a problem with the report card presented by Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Delisle Worrell, regarding performance in international business and the financial services sector.
In an interview with the DAILY NATION yesterday, Inniss, one of the more outspoken ministers in Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s Cabinet, said there were areas of growth in both sectors that were obviously not taken into consideration by Worrell before he presented his findings yesterday.
The Governor reported that the number of new licences issued to international business and financial services entities increased by eight per cent up to May this year, but that renewals fell by 14 per cent.
Inniss doesn’t want to challenge those statistics, but is adamant they don’t give a true picture of what is happening in the sector.
