Race to meet pack-up deadline
Grand Kadooment on Monday ended the 2013 Crop Over season but yesterday there was still lots of action on the Spring Garden Highway.
The stalls which were set up for the busy last lap of the season that included the Foreday Morning Jam and Bridgetown Market and the ending point for bands, were being dismantled.
Stall owners have until tomorrow to remove the 325 stalls, including the Bajan Craft Village, children’s area and sponsors and other stalls on the road.
Simone Codrington, corporate communications specialist at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), told the MIDWEEK NATION that workers would have started dismantling stalls and taking away their property from the sides of the busy highway as early as yesterday morning in an effort to meet the 48-hour deadline.
“There are NCF officials checking in, making sure that the stalls are down and everything is cleared on time,” said the communications specialist. (AH)
