TROLLEY BAN

FISHERFOLK have been given the next 12 days to remove from all fish markets the steel trolleys they use to transport fish.
Several notices were placed around the markets yesterday informing people working in the markets to remove the trolleys, which recently became a bone of contention.
Two weeks ago, trolleys were seized from vendors at the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex during a random inspection. At the time inspectors said they were a haven for bacteria because vendors failed to clean them every day and use clean plastic inside the trolleys when transporting fish.
The notice issued yesterday said in part: “As indicated to you during the December 2013 training, all trolleys will be phased out of use from this market.
