DEAR CHRISTINE:  Married man doesn’t want us to part

Date:

Share post:

Dear Christine,
Since the start of the year I have been seeing a married man.
We met at a party and kept seeing each other – not sexually.
We tried to be as quiet as possible about our meetings – lunches and dinners, visits to the movies, and so on – but someone apparently saw us out together more than once and told his wife.
At first she said she was calling to tell me the man I was seeing was married, just in case I did not know and advised me to stop seeing him.
I told him about the call and he told me not to worry. He said he would handle the matter and that he was not in love with his wife. In fact, he told me he was contemplating filing for a divorce.
He says he does not want me to leave him even though his wife is talking about harming herself and me as well.
I don’t know what to do. I will be 19 on my next birthday. What do you suggest?
– C.K.

Dear C.K.,
Have you ever watched a cat play with a mouse after he catches it? The cat will tease the mouse until he thinks it is time to go in for the kill. This man is waiting for the kill and you’re buying into his web of deceit.
You know exactly what to do. Do as the wife has suggested and leave her husband alone. You could regret it later if you don’t. He is not dating material.
– CHRISTINE
