THE WORK to change the mindset that old buildings need to be demolished will continue.
This assertion comes from senior cultural policy officer in the Ministry of Culture, Janice Perryman, who was speaking before the ministry’s Museum And Gallery Crawl yesterday.
Speaking in the wake of the demolition of an almost 150-year-old shop/residence on Bay Street, The City, Perryman said that while there was an interest in what made up the UNESCO World Heritage site, the attitude towards its buildings was different.
“There is an interest shown in wanting to understand what our heritage entails, what you can find within Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison,” she said.
