SANDALS BARBADOS RESORT & Spa expects to attract as many as 3 000 Barbadians when it hosts its much anticipated job fair at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre come October 6 to 10, 2014, to fill 600 positions.
Monday is reserved for former Sandals Barbados team members, while the other days are for any interested persons
Presently, Sandals Barbados has a staff complement of 65 – reduced from 377 prior to the April 1, 2014 closure and general manager, Josef Zellner, said the job fair will look to recruit and provide training for personnel for almost all departments across the property.
Training for the new team members will begin on November 17 with one week of orientation which will then be followed by practical exercises.
“This event we believe will make a significant impact towards stimulating the employment landscape of Barbados. We expect to interview a large number of Barbadian nationals for all departments at the resort,” Zellner said.
Training for senior and middle management personnel for Sandals Barbados is ongoing across the Sandals group throughout the Caribbean.
Sandals Resorts International has been in land of “sea and Sun” since January of this year and has since begun the massive injection of US$65 million into the renovation of the 280 room property at Dover.
Chief executive officer for Sandals Resorts International Adam Stewart said on Wednesday that the property is on schedule for the proposed January 28, 2015 official opening.
Following this, Sandals will be channelling its energies into the rebranding and renovations of the newly acquired 426 room former Almond Beach Village in St. Peter. This property will carry the much admired Beaches family resort flag. (PR)
