Corpse discovered

POLICE ARE SEEKING the public’s assistance in identifying a man whose partially burnt, bullet-riddled body was found in Longdenville on Friday afternoon.

The man’s hands were tied around his back leading police to believe that his death may have been a contract gangland style killing.

Police said that around 4 p.m., a 27-year-old tractor operator who lives at Fletcher Road off Ravine Sable Road, Longdenville was walking towards his home when he saw the body of the man.

The man called the police and a team of officers went to the scene.

Detectives said that the man may have been in his early 20s and had a low haircut.

The victim had on a pair of red jeans, sneakers, was bare-chested with a gold chain around his neck.

Police said the body was on the western side of the road and had already started to decompose.

After the scene was processed by officers of the Homicide Bureau’s Crime Scene Unit, the body was taken to the Port of Spain Mortuary pending a positive identification.

Chaguanas CID officers are continuing investigations. (Express)
