Secondary schools across Barbados should be getting an upgrade.

Minister of Education Ronald Jones said at his request school [principals] have submitted proposals outlining work needed and the costing and he said the ministry would work on meeting those requests.

Jones, who was speaking at the Grantley Adams Memorial School Speech Day and prize giving ceremony on Wednesday, said there was no guarantee that all requested work could be completed based on the estimates sent by the schools. It is expected that the bill could run into the tens of millions of dollars.

“Unfortunately we do not have tens of millions of dollars at this time, but we are going to incrementally work one [after]  one until they are finished,” he said. (LK)
