Update: Alexandra School closes for the day

THE ALEXANDRA SCHOOL has been closed for the day after smoke from a nearby rubbish fire enveloped most of the school compound.

Morning classes were halted and students had been moved away from the smoke.

A decision was later taken to close the school.
