SANDALS RESORTS INTERNATIONAL’S multimillion-dollar Beaches property planned for St Peter will not be starting this year as previously announced.

But Jamaican Gordon “Butch” Stewart’s loss is Barbadian hotelier Bernie Weatherhead’s gain as he has the 168 rooms of the Almond Beach Resort hotel at 100 per cent occupancy and employment for 230 Barbadians.

Furthermore, Weatherhead told the DAILY NATION last night that the delayed investment by the Sandals Group would mean that his contract with Government to run the Almond would be extended.
