A FRESH LOOKING Grand Kadooment Day is set to be unveiled this year.
Though plans have not yet been finalised, it could involve from bands starting inside the National Stadium to create a greater spectacle for spectators, to performances on the route to enliven the crowds, and jumping tents in a secure facility on Spring Garden Highway to keep those assembled there entertained throughout the day.
The move is part of the National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) attempt to make Grand Kadooment Day an event in itself, and rescue it from losing its appeal.
Chetwin Stewart, president of the Bandleaders Association of Masqueraders (BAM), is working alongside the NCF to lift the profile of the day.
